Supporting the Community
At Foil Me, we are all about giving back. Over the years, with the help of our Foil Me Artists, we have supported a variety of charities and foundations. Whether it be through donations, campaigns or simply raising awareness, supporting our community has always remained one of our core values.
Foil Me is excited to partner with Waste Free Systems (WFS) because of our shared mission and vision for a better future. Our commitment to sustainability is evident in the materials we select for our hair tools, which are made from recycled materials and designed for recyclability and durability. Additionally, our latest product, The Board, is manufactured in Australia to reduce carbon emissions. By joining forces with WFS, we aim to minimise waste in the hairdressing industry and contribute to a cleaner, greener environment.
Inspired by a longstanding appreciation of our Indigenous culture and assisting children’s literacy, Foil Me is honoured and delighted to announce the release of their highly anticipated collection, The Jujup, created in partnership with the Australian Hairdressing Council (AHC), and highly esteemed contemporary Australian Indigenous artist, Sarrita King. Featuring a vibrant colour palette of orange, turquoise and pink, this striking collection celebrates the art of Indigenous storytelling through a tale of growth, learning and community. Closely translating to ‘beginning’ in Gurindji, The Jujup embodies the notion that education is where it all begins.
Foil Me is helping make education more accessible for isolated Indigenous communities across Australia by teaming up with The Indigenous Literacy Foundation (ILF) where we are donating $1 from every box of The Jujup sold to the ILF. The ILF are Community-led, responding to requests for culturally relevant books, including early learning board books, resources, and programs to support Communities to create and publish their stories in languages of their choice. With funds going towards the ILF’s Book Supply Program, every $10 raised provides children in remote communities with a culturally appropriate book.
Meticulously crafted by, and exclusive to Foil Me and our distributors, The Bee collection took six weeks just in the design process.
Co-owner and Creative Designer, Emily Ciardiello, assiduously hand drew the BEEautiful creation featuring bees, and beehives on a sky blue background, whilst our graphic design genie, Chelsea Winter, expertly brought the illustrations to life, digitally.
An Australian registered not-for-profit charity,Wheen Bee Foundation promotes awareness of the importance of bees for food security, and funds research that addresses the national and global threat to bees.
Following on from Emily’s dream to contribute to the survival of the global bee population, we are donating $1.00 from the sale of every box in The Bee collection to assist Wheen Bee Foundation. So far, the Foil Me community have raised over $7,000 for The Wheen Bee Foundation.
This gorgeous foil is artfully embellished with hand-illustrated pink roses by Foil Me’s Creative Director and Co-Founder, Emily Ciardiello, and Graphic Designer, Chelsea Winter. Featuring our premium Foil Me signature embossing, our custom watercolour rose designed foil has been specifically created to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer.
This beautiful flower is particularly special as it has been drawn based on a rose from Sheree Knobel’s tree that was planted in memory of her sister, Melanie Callow, who died from cancer in 2015.
From the sale of every box of the BCR collection, $1.00 will be donated to assist the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) to help achieve their mission of Zero Deaths from breast cancer by 2030.
Every year we design a new foil to ensure this cause is at the forefront of everyone's minds, particularly in September and October, where we can raise the most awareness.
Over the past 5 years, we (as a collective community) have donated over $120,000 to the NBCF.
Animals Australia
After the tragic bushfires that blazed all over Australia during the summer of 2019/2020, Foil Me wanted to offer support to the animals that had been injured and displaced; so we donated $1.00 from the sale of every packet sold for the month of January and February to Animals Australia.
In doing so, we were able to donate $10,000 to Animals Australia.
At the beginning of 2023, Foil Me expanded their focus to the home by venturing into the world of reusable food foil wraps, this time donating $0.20c from every box sold to Animals Australia. With a large aspect of their focus being to make more conscious, sustainable choices, this couldn’t be a more fitting union.
We are proud to share that Foil Me have now invested in crowdfunding project called The Sun Exchange.
With our investment, Foil Me now own 1.1kw worth of solar panels for Outerwest Recycling Plant (365.04kW) in Campdown, South Africa who recycle 200 tonnes of plastics per month.
November 2021 update: The project has now begun construction and soon this solar-powered plant will create clean and affordable energy for the next 20 years.
Reforest
Foil Me wanted to do something to give back to the earth as well as offset the carbon emissions of shipping. As a Christmas present to 100 of our Foil Me Artists, we gifted them 1 tree planted by Reforest, on their behalf.
Thank you for helping our Foil Me forest flourish!
