Foil Me: The Journey So Far

 At Foil Me, we're passionate about giving back. Over the years, we've made it our mission to do just that, supporting a variety of charities and causes through donations, campaigns, and raising awareness.

"As part of our core values, we prioritise supporting causes that require awareness and financial assistance,” says Foil Me Co-owner and CEO, Emily Ciardiello.

One of the most recent causes we have supported was on March the 25^th for an event called ‘Come Together’, an educational look and learn where some of the country's most iconic hairstylists and educators shared their wisdom and expertise. Aside being an incredible opportunity to share some industry tips, all proceeds from the event have gone towards Giant Steps, a school who help guide and educate children and families experiencing autism.

“The commitment to donating 100% of proceeds to Giant Steps, a school dedicated to individuals with autism, struck a chord with me. Rarely do we see events pledging full proceeds, so I was eager to be involved is such a selfless event."

Collectively, with the help of event sponsors, the Come Together event raised over $23,000 for Giant Steps, which will help facilitate necessary upgrades to their Occupational Therapy rooms.

"Occupational therapy is a cornerstone of the Giant Steps program, enabling children to thrive as students by addressing core autism deficits and enhancing motor skills. Your generous funding will directly enhance our facilities, providing essential resources like balance beams, ball pits, and swings, as well as improving fine motor skill support" - Michelle Jocum, National Director of Fundraising at Giant Steps.

In honour of this epic cause, let’s take a walk down memory lane and revisit some of the other charities we’ve had the privilege of supporting over the years, with your help, of course.

 The Jujup Collection

First up, let's talk about The Jujup Collection. A storytelling masterpiece, this collection was created in collaboration with the Australian Hairdressing Council and talented Indigenous Artist, Sarrita King. The Jujup tells a story of each unique learning journey, and with education being a cause that is particularly close to our hearts, we have committed to donating $1 from every box sold to the Indigenous Literacy Foundation. Why? Because we believe every child deserves access to books and learning.

The Bee Collection

The Bee Collection is more than just a beautiful design – it's a symbol of our commitment to saving the bees! For every box sold, we’ve continued to donate $1 to the Wheen Bee Foundation, because we know how important these little pollinators are for our planet. Together, we've raised over $7,000 to help support bee conservation efforts, and we're just getting started!

The BCR Collection

We created the BCR Collection to support breast cancer research. With $1 from every box sold going to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, together with the assistance of our movement, we raised over $120,000 to help in their mission to achieve zero deaths from breast cancer by 2030.

The Pride Collection

Our Pride Collection is all about celebrating diversity and spreading love wherever we go. With every box sold, we’ve donated $1 to The Equality Project, because we believe in a world where everyone is accepted for who they are. Together, we've raised over $4,000 to support the LGBTIQ+ community so far!

The Full Circle

Here at Foil Me, we take the motto ‘reduce, reuse, recycle’ very seriously. With the Full Circle Collection, we teamed up with GSC to raise awareness about recycling in the salon industry. For every box sold, we donated £1.50 to FoodCycle. Collectively, we've raised over £600 to provide nutritious meals and support to communities across the UK. Let's keep the cycle going!

Animals Australia

After the tragic bushfires that blazed all over Australia during the summer of 2019/2020, we wanted to offer support to the animals that had been injured and displaced; so we donated $1.00 from the sale of every packet sold for the month of January and February to Animals Australia. In doing so, we were able to donate $10,000 to Animals Australia.

At the beginning of 2023, we expanded our focus to the home by venturing into the world of reusable food foil wraps with 'home. by Foil Me', this time donating $0.20c from every box sold to Animals Australia.

Reforest

Last but not least, let's talk about trees! As part of our commitment to offsetting carbon emissions, we've partnered with Reforest to plant trees. Together, we're helping our Foil Me forest flourish and making the world a greener, happier place.

So, there you have it - our journey to helping make the world a better place, one day at a time. But our support doesn’t end there – in June, we will be sponsoring the Australian Hairdressing Council’s Industry Day. Known for their many incredible initiatives for hairdressers, it was important to us to support the AHC to show our support for hairdressers and the industry as a whole.

All in all, we feel so privileged to be able to contribute to these causes - but the truth is that none of this would be possible without you.
