Well, that’s exactly what we think! To honour the hair artists who have our hearts, we are proud to reveal that The Canvas Collection is making a highly anticipated comeback – only this time, with a twist. Originally launched in collaboration with JOICO last March, The Canvas was only ever meant to be a limited release… that was until we heard your adoring cries to bring it back!

Curious as to what inspired this colourful foil? Let’s rewind a little…

It all began in 2020, with a simple conversation between JOICO Ambassador, Carolyn Gahan, and Marketing Director at Sabre Group, Kylie McLeod, that occurred while Carolyn was colouring Kylie’s hair. From there, it was Carolyn’s striking vision that inspired the foil, which was painted by Creative Director & Co-Founder, Emily Ciardiello, and cleverly brought to life by our Graphic Design genie, Chelsea Winter.

Says Emily, “When Carolyn shared her inspiration photos with me, I was extremely excited to begin this project. At first, I played around with a more subdued colour palette and the strokes were very 'straight' and too repetitive, but when I showed it to Carolyn, she wanted more neon colours and random paint strokes. I LOVE a challenge and after a few more renditions, it was exactly what Carolyn and JOICO wanted!”

If you loved this collection for its luxe matte finish, abstract lines, and vibrant colourway, then fret not – we haven’t changed a thing about this cult favourite! What we have done, is give you the option between a matte or shiny finish, so you can choose which style best reflects you.

Now you might be wondering, what’s the difference between the two styles?

The differences are subtle, like a beautiful painting you stare at in an art gallery. The ‘Canvas – Matte’ features fragments of matte paint strokes to create the illusion of dimension, much like a real canvas. Alternatively, ‘The Canvas – Shiny’ reflects light to captivate the eye and reveal an overall glow, catching the eye of the beholder. Like paint to a canvas, this collection is sure to entice conversation between you and your guests around colour, creativity, and the interpretation of art.
